Pet Dentistry

Making every day a fresh breath day

Oral health has a significant impact on your pet’s quality of life.

Maintaining your pet’s oral health is one of the most important things you can do to maintain their general wellbeing. Your pets use their mouth for everything, so we need to make sure their dental hygiene is in excellent order.

Dental chews, bones, dry food and toys can all play their part in helping you keep their gums and teeth healthy.  At Kingsgrove Vet we also offer dental cleaning and tooth extraction under general anaesthesia when they need it. Some pets require regular visits to us throughout their lifetime, others may never need a dental clean. Dental assessment is routinely done during every health check, so we can let you know what they need.

What are symptoms of dental disease?

  • Yellow-brown tartar around the gumline
  • Inflamed, red, bleeding gums
  • Bad breath
  • Change in eating or chewing habits
  • Pawing at the face or mouth
  • Excessive drooling

What does a professional clean involve?

Your pet will undergo an ultrasonic scale and polish under general anaesthesia at our fully equipped hospital. Sometimes extractions are required, but this will be discussed with you prior to booking in your pet. We also have some very effective treatments/tips to maintain their oral health after the dental to ensure less visits in the future.

The basic price for a full Scale and Polish procedure, including general anesthesia in our day surgery and intravenous fluid therapy is:

Cats – $475.00

Dogs – $525.00

If extractions are required, additional costs generally range from $100.00 to $1000.00 on top of the basic fee. Book in a dental consult to get a more accurate quote for your pet(s) if they require dental cleaning and/or extractions. Early assessment and action can save your pet(s) teeth!
